APEC countries to work together on value chain resilience and business continuity

7th-8th November saw the 26th APEC Ministerial Meeting taking place in Beijing, China. The meeting discussed various issues around the theme of ‘Shaping the Future through Asia-Pacific Partnership’, and focused on three priority areas: Advancing Regional Economic Integration; Promoting Innovative Development, Economic Reform and Growth; and Strengthening Comprehensive Connectivity and Infrastructure Development.

One of the outcomes of the meeting was an agreement that APEC countries will work together to promote value chain resilience and business continuity. This was set out in the post meeting statement as follows:

“We welcome the completion of the APEC Policy Support Unit (PSU) study on Comprehensive Analysis on Enhanced Resiliency of Cross-Border Value Chains, and instruct officials to make a collaborative effort to enhance cross-border value chain resilience, including business continuity, in the region, building on the PSU study.”
