US financial services firms take part in Quantum Dawn 2 cybersecurity exercise

SIFMA (The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association) successfully coordinated the Quantum Dawn 2 market-wide cybersecurity exercise on July 18, 2013. Quantum Dawn 2 aimed to enable both individual firms and the financial services sector as a whole to exercise cybersecurity response plans, including incident response, resolution and coordination processes.

SIFMA says that the exercise, which simulated a systemic attack, was completed successfully with “robust engagement from all participants”. The sector “came together and utilized its existing protocols, procedures and processes to effectively communicate with each other and with government partners to address the crisis and restore the markets to fair and orderly operation.”

An after action report is due to be published during August.
