Use of cloud for business continuity and disaster recovery on the increase

Adoption of cloud computing will move from SaaS to more sophisticated uses such as disaster recovery, backup, business continuity and desktop as a service according to a TechTarget - Computer Weekly survey.

The study of almost 1300 IT professionals found that all cloud services are expected to grow over the next six months, with disaster recovery and business continuity both being areas where ‘major leaps’ are anticipated.

The adoption of cloud for disaster recovery and business continuity will grow from 17.9 percent now to 28.5 percent in six months, according to the survey results.

Worryingly, the study discovered that, while 43 percent of respondents said they can recover using cloud-based computing services and disaster recovery data stored in the cloud, only 25 percent said that they have tested the cloud disaster recovery service.
