EU project aims to produce transport-sector business continuity guidance by July 2013

Details have been published by the European Union about a project which aims to develop a set of publicly available business continuity guidelines for the transport sector aspect of critical infrastructure.

The guidelines are scheduled to be released by July 2013 and are expected to facilitate and reduce the cost of developing and implementing business continuity and security plans.

The 612,000 euro project is named ‘BUCOPCI’ and is being coordinated by Isdefe (Systems Engineering for the Defence of Spain).

The principal outputs of the BUCOPCI project will be:

- A set of ‘Guidelines for Business Continuity Planning and for setting-up Critical Infrastructures Operator’s Security Plans’. These guidelines will be flexible enough to be applicable to any transport sector.

- A state-of-the-art study in business continuity planning (BCP) and critical infrastructure operators security plan (CI OSP) standards.

- A preliminary analysis of the implementation of business continuity and security plans for critical infrastructures in the Spanish transport sector.
