Canada financial sector business continuity test scheduled

The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) has announced that it will lead a financial sector business continuity test on September 10, 2011.

The test will build on a previous one held in September 2007. Subsequent business continuity tests scheduled in 2008, 2009 and 2010 were cancelled for various reasons; with the latter clashing with the G20 meeting in Toronto.

The scenario for the September 10, 2011 test will focus on the inaccessibility of downtown Toronto.

Major service providers signed up already include Alpha Trading Systems, Belzberg, Broadridge BPS, Broadridge Dataphile, CDCC (using test environment), CDS, Chi-X Canada ATS Ltd., CNSX Markets Inc., Fidessa, FundSERV, IBM Canada, IRESS, ITS, Omega ATS, The Bourse de Montreal, TriAct and TSX.

A working group has been formed to oversee the preparation for the test.
