Dr. David J. Smith, MBA, LL.B(Hons), FIBCM BCCE, is a practicing certificated business continuity professional and currently the Chairman of the Institute of Business Continuity Management which is the professional business continuity practitioner institute of South Africa. He is an accredited Fellow of the Institute of Business Continuity Management, a Business Continuity Expert of the Business Continuity Management Institute (BCMI) and former Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute.

Dr. Smith has a doctorate in Business Continuity Management and Crisis Management from Liverpool University (UK) in addition to his Masters Degree in Business Administration and an Honours Bachelor of Laws degree.
