Dissident Republicans posing an increasing terror threat in Northern Ireland
The Twenty-First Report of the Independent Monitoring Commission was published yesterday (7 May 2009) and warns that ‘dissident activity since early summer 2008 has been consistently more serious than at any time since we started reporting in April 2004.’ The Commission believes that dissident Republicans are attempting to destabilise the Northern Ireland peace process. Some explosive devices deployed by dissident republicans recently have contained small amounts of the semtex high explosive. Read the report.

Brand design packaging consultancy Sun Branding Solutions is believed to be the first within its industry to gain BS25999 accreditation. Sun asked its existing auditors, SGS, to assess the certification, however as SGS was not accredited by UKAS to perform the assessment, UKAS witnessed SGS performing the audit so SGS could simultaneously obtain the auditing accreditation.
