UK government tests pandemic ‘flu preparations
The Department of Health is leading a cross-Government exercise to test preparations for a pandemic influenza outbreak. Exercise ‘Shared Goal’ is a table top exercise designed to test the UK's ability to manage pandemic ‘flu and the decision making processes that would be faced during a national health emergency. Exercise Shared Goal commenced at 0900 hours on 14 June 2006 and will finish at approximately 1700 hours on 15 June 2006.

HSE publishes feedback from Buncefield safety alert
The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published the initial feedback from the safety alert it issued to operators of fuel storage depots in February 2006. The alert was issued to ensure that operators of oil or fuel depot storage installations similar to Buncefield, were complying with current good practice and relevant standards.
