Comsat
International, a provider of enterprise networking services throughout
Latin America, and Tachyon Networks Inc., a provider of carrier
grade broadband satellite services for large enterprises and government
agencies, have announced a strategic partnership that will allow
Comsat to utilise Tachyon's network infrastructure to offer reliable
high speed broadband satellite services to large enterprises in
Mexico and portions of Central America and the Caribbean.
Comsat's extensive enterprise, carrier and
ISP base of customers will be able to take advantage of Tachyon's
enhanced broadband network portfolio at access speeds up to 2 Mbps
from the most remote areas not served by wireline carriers.
"Comsat's existing base of enterprise
customers requires a broadband solution that can be leveraged for
primary Internet access in remote locations as well as serve as
a disaster recovery/backup solution for operations in metropolitan
areas served by landline carriers," said Alfonso Torres, Comsat's
country manager in Mexico. "Tachyon's technology allows us
to economically fill this void."
