SunGard Availability Services wins Royal & SunAlliance contract

SunGard has won a seven year contract to provide all Royal & SunAlliance’s UK workplace recovery services.

SunGard will provide more than 6,000 workplace recovery positions across 13 of its UK sites. The agreement also includes a ‘rapid reaction unit’ which would enable Royal & SunAlliance's management team to direct the business from a mobile office should there be a serious interruption to business from a wide-area metropolitan disaster.

SunGard will also provide a mobile telephone switch service, as call centre operations are core to Royal & SunAlliance's business, and Quickship, a service where SunGard will rapidly deliver replacement hardware to any Royal & SunAlliance or SunGard site.
