According
to the new Yankee Group report, ‘Security event management
systems defend against information and regulatory overload,’
vendors are rising to the challenge of creating security event management
(SEM) systems to help security administrators develop policies,
manage logs, respond faster to virus and hacker threats, and use
the available information to continue improving defences.
"The growing number of risks and increasing
complexity of security defences guarantee SEM a place in the overall
security solution and create an opportunity for overlapping network
and systems management vendors to add value by integrating with
a new breed of security solutions," says Phebe Waterfield,
Yankee Group Security Solutions and Services analyst.
"Integrating a systems management solution
with risk management, and maintaining systems according to their
value to the organisation, has the potential to revolutionise the
way enterprises manage security risks," says Waterfield.
The report defines a road map for the evolution
of SEM. It profiles the leaders and challengers in this $90 million
market and forecasts revenue growth for the next five years.
Figures include:
* The SEM market forecasted to grow to $430 million by 2008
* Comparison of enterprise-class SEM systems
* Security event management market shares.
