Get free weekly news by e-mailLEGATO Software has won a $4.3 million competitive contract for business continuity and availability solutions from the Pentagon Renovation Office (PENREN), a large-scale initiative to modernise the Department of Defense's IT infrastructure. PENREN supports many agencies within the Pentagon, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marine Corps.

Michael Sullivan, program manager for PENREN, said, "With LEGATO Software, the Pentagon Renovation Office is deploying a high-performance, automated availability solution capable of meeting the 24-by-7 continuity of operations requirements of the Department of Defense. LEGATO worked closely with PENREN to understand our business continuity requirements and delivered a solution that met our specific needs."

In this agreement PENREN is deploying LEGATO's high availability software with EMC's data replication software as part of its total business continuity solution. The LEGATO-EMC solution automates the management of the disaster recovery process by automatically detecting and reporting problems, ensuring ongoing application availability, and transferring business operation to a recovery site as necessary.

In addition, LEGATO Consulting Services will provide deployment services and project management support over the next two years.
