New Winternals Recovery Manager 1.2

Get free weekly news by e-mailWinternals, a provider of Microsoft systems infrastructure availability and performance solutions, has announced the release of Recovery Manager 1.2, an enterprise-level systems availability solution that now provides greater scalability in large enterprise environments. This new version ensures rapid system recovery without data loss, ‘as an alternative to the manual, time-intensive, and data destructive standard recovery techniques of imaging and backup’ says the company.

"The new features in version 1.2 of Recovery Manager were added to meet the availability demands of our largest enterprise customers," said Edwin Brasch, president and CEO of Winternals. "Recovery Manager provides marked reductions in recovery time for Windows servers and desktops throughout the enterprise, delivering improved service levels, higher end-user satisfaction, and lower total cost of ownership (TCO)."

Recovery Manager is an automated, remote recovery solution for Windows NT4, 2000, XP, and Server 2003 systems.

In addition to scalability enhancements, through added support for SQL Server and MSDE databases, new functionality in Recovery Manager 1.2 includes:
* Enhanced logging and reporting capabilities for improved manageability of complex networks. Version 1.2 provides the ability to easily audit system repair and support activities by tracking which administrator performed a specific activity - anywhere in the network.

* The capability to pinpoint system issues in granular detail, simplifying root cause analysis to prevent future downtime.

* More manageability control; specifically the ability to import and export registry values throughout the enterprise from the central console.

* Greater reduction of client footprint and further lowering of network overhead by moving client-based data to centralised storage locations; ensures fast recovery with minimum impact to the IT infrastructure.

* More flexibility to add specialised drivers for hardware not natively supported by the Windows XP compliant boot client; assures customisation with a user's IT environment.
