KPMG conducts survey to discover state of business continuity management in South Africa

ITWeb (Johannesburg) has reported that KPMG has recently conducted the first comprehensive survey of South African business continuity management activity.

Highlights of the survey included:
* 76 percent of the companies surveyed had business continuity plans in place.
* Only 45 percent of respondents were satisfied with the level of training given to staff on business continuity.
* More than half the companies (57 percent) spend R1 million or less on business continuity, and 9 percent have no budget for BC at all.
* Just under half of the companies surveyed (49 percent) have significant highly complex systems with no manual alternatives, while 71 percent make moderate to significant use of third-parties and service providers, and are heavily dependent on these external processes.
