New barcode management system for IT assets

Altiris, Inc., has launched a new barcode-based IT asset management system. Although it is aimed at enabling general organisations manage their IT resources more effectively, the solution could also help recovery facility providers track assets and manage syndication.

‘Barcode Solution’, a component of Altiris’ Asset Management Suite, helps eliminate data input errors, accounting irregularities and redundancies.

Barcode Solution easily tracks both discoverable and non-discoverable assets and is an effective tool for streamlining scheduled physical audits. Barcode Solution also provides asset data download to handheld devices, asset tracking within an enterprise systems management application and remote access to centralised inventory data.

Barcode Solution is now available and is offered at an MSRP of $3,700 per barcode scanning device. Barcode Solution supports Code 39 and 128 barcode formats. The solution currently supports a variety of Pocket PC 2002 barcode devices, including Symbol Technologies SPDT8000, SPDT8100, SPPT2800 and SPS3000 Scanner Sled.
