Canadian government creates flood mitigation fund The Honourable Vic Toews, Canada's Public Safety Minister has announced the creation of a contribution program, ‘Financial Support to Provinces and Territories for 2011 Flood Mitigation Investments’, to support Canadian provinces affected by severe floods during 2011. The fund will be available to help with the cost of permanent flood mitigation measures. "The Harper government is committed to building stronger and safer communities," said Minister Toews.
