Prospering in an era of uncertainty: the case for resilience

A new white paper, produced by PwC in association with the University of Oxford and written by Martin Caddick, leader of risk and business continuity management services at PwC, looks at the subject of resilience and how organizations are starting to include it as one of the core aspects of enterprise risk management.

The paper says that resilience is more than just bouncing back from an incident or issue: businesses must start adapting early rather than just responding to shocks. ‘Prospering in an era of uncertainty – the case for resilience’ encourages organizations to accept that they must take a radical new stance and start to adapt early rather than scrambling to action stations once the alarm bells have sounded.

Resilience accepts that shocks will occur and gives as much prominence to an organization’s power of response as to its power of control.
