Amplify.net adds route control plus high availability to multi-homed WAN gateways

Full redundancy and application-based routing for optimised network performance and IT continuity.

Amplify.net, Inc., has added another two major functions to its iSurfJanus multi-homed WAN gateways. These are VRRP (virtual router redundancy protocol) and application-based route control.

Operating in conjunction with Janus' automatic WAN backup capability, the new VRRP feature enables the user to configure a fail-safe network using a second Janus to act as a redundant backup to the primary unit for reliability and high availability. The new Route Control function, combined with Janus' inherent load balancing function, enables users to specify WAN link assignments and utilisation based on application and/or traffic type thereby greatly optimising the overall network performance.
