‘Cities and Flooding: A Guide to Integrated Urban Flood Risk Management for the 21st Century’ The World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery have jointly published new guidance on flood risk management. ‘Cities and Flooding: A Guide to Integrated Urban Flood Risk Management for the 21st Century’ provides operational assistance to policy makers and technical specialists on how best to manage flood risk. It takes a strategic approach, in which ‘appropriate risk management measures are assessed, selected and integrated in a process that both informs and involves the full range of stakeholders’. The guide’s lead author is Abhas K. Jha, who leads the World Bank programme for disaster risk management in east Asia and the Pacific.
