The Business Continuity Institute has published
revisions to the ten key disciplines, which give guidance to the
areas of competence that business continuity professionals require.
The update is the result of joint BCI / DRII (Disaster Recovery
Institute International) consultations.
BCI made the following statement about the
changes:
“We are pleased to announce that following co-operative work
between the BCI and DRII a revised set of Certification Standards
are today published on the BCI website. These standards reflect
the change of approach to business continuity management as encapsulated
in the BCI definition in the Good Practice Guide to BCM published
last December.
Business continuity management is defined as
an holistic management process that identifies potential impacts
that threaten an organisation and provides a framework for building
resilience with the capability for an effective response that safeguards
the interests of its key stakeholders, reputation and value creating
activities."
