Canadian CSA Z1600 business continuity standard review underway The BCI Canadian Chapter has reported that it will be involved in a review of the CSA Z1600 Canadian business continuity standard. CSA Z1600-08, ‘Emergency management and business continuity programs’ was initially released in August 2008 by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Based on the NFPA 1600 standard, it outlines the requirements for a comprehensive emergency management program that incorporates a risk-based, all-hazards methodology, integrating emergency management and business continuity programs for a total program approach. The review process Throughout 2011, the CSA Z1600 Technical Committee (TC) sub-committees will work to prepare drafts of their respective sections for TC committee review and resolution. The target for development of the final draft for public review is October 2011 and it is expected that the 2nd edition draft will be released in late 2011 for public review. In early 2012, the TC will meet to address the public review comments and to prepare a final draft for ballot. Once the draft is technically approved by the TC, the draft will undergo further editing and a quality review before it is published. •Date: 16th March 2011 • Region: Canada •Type: Article •Topic: BC general
