‘Business Continuity Planning’
is an intensive, hands-on, five-day workshop presented by the Institute
for Business Continuity Training in Washington DC from October 20th
to 24th, 2003. Using lectures, group work, and in-depth case studies,
the workshop explores all aspects of business continuity planning,
from project initiation right through to testing and maintaining
the plan.
The workshop can be taken either for the full
five days, or in two sessions of 2 1/2 days each.
Topics covered in the first session
include:
- Establishing and managing a business continuity programme
- Generally accepted business continuity 'best practices'
- Risk assessment:
- Business impact analysis
- BCP strategy development
- Business resumption planning
- Plan templates and software tools:
- Evaluating commercial recovery services.
Topics covered in the second session
include: - The five phases of a business continuity plan
- Developing a crisis management plan
- Validating and maintaining business continuity plans
- Techniques for training and exercising business continuity teams
- Plan maintenance and evaluation
- Auditing the business continuity programme
- Case study and table top exercise of a complete business continuity
plan.
Course participants receive working tools and
templates for a variety of activities, such as conducting a business
impact analysis. In addition, they receive a complete business continuity
plan which can be used as a template for their own organisation.
The course is relevant to both new and experienced
practitioners. Participants receive CEU credits for 40 hours of
contact time.
