In December 2009, ICM Continuity Services acquired Shadow-Planner business continuity software. Since then it has concentrated on refining the software and during October it will officially launch Shadow-Planner version 4. The software has been given a complete re-write to make it quicker, more intuitive and easier to use.
Shadow-Planner is a software-as-a-service based suite of business continuity management tools. It consists of four key modules:
* Business impact analysis: helping users quantify vulnerabilities by defining mission-critical activities;
* Risk management: assisting users to determine the likelihood of failure of any critical asset or process;
* Business continuity planning: providing the tools to develop and maintain effective and up-to-date continuity plans;
* Compliance scorecard: helping organizations easily monitor adherence to best practices and standards.
Version 4 of Shadow-Planner will bring new mobile technologies to the above suite, allowing business continuity, emergency communications and crisis management plans to be accessed via a Blackberry or other smart-phone. This will allow business continuity managers to move away from paper-based plans if this is desired; and, more importantly, ensures that in any incident the required recovery and response information is always at hand; and in the most convenient format.
ICM is running two launch events, which will demonstrate the new features of Shadow-Planner as well as providing useful educational sessions. These will be held at Birmingham (Thursday 14th October) and in London (Thursday 18th November).
