A temporary power outage at Heathrow caused
major business continuity problems for British Airways on Saturday,
due to a resulting computer failure that had knock-on effects around
the world. Apparently, the company’s global network was shut
down for some hours, with check-in and baggage-handling systems
severely affected.
Eleven flights were cancelled at Heathrow and
other flights at the airport and around the world were delayed.
A British Airways spokesman said that "We
have got a team of IT experts investigating the cause of the problem."
