Two reports have been published this week which capture lessons learned from the H1N1 pandemic response, with the aim of improving the management of future pandemics.
The reports are:
* The 2009 Influenza Pandemic: An independent review of the UK response to the 2009 influenza pandemic
This is an independent review into the UK’s strategic response to the 2009 swine flu pandemic. It outlines 28 recommendations that aim to enhance the proportionality of a future response, strengthen the development and handling of scientific advice and improve how government communicates with the public.

* Report of the Swine Flu Critical Care Clinical Group and Key Learning Points for Future Surge Planning
This Department of Health report builds on the work undertaken during the 2009-10 swine flu pandemic to increase critical care capacity. The report incorporates key learning points for future surge planning.
