A heatwave which is affecting most of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) states may result in power problems for local businesses, with grids across the Arab Gulf under extreme pressure.
Temperatures in the area are forecast to reach the 50 degree centigrade level in the next few days, with night-time temperatures in the mid-30’s.
Kuwait, the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, the south of Iraq and west Iran are due to experience the highest temperatures.
Increased power consumption, mainly due to the use of air-conditioning systems, is threatening to outstrip supply. Should this occur, rolling blackouts will be imposed.
