SunGard has announced that Andrew Stern has been appointed chief executive officer of SunGard Availability Services.
Mr. Stern, age 52, was previously chairman and chief executive officer of USinternetworking Inc. (USi), an application service provider that was acquired by AT&T in 2006. Subsequently, he led AT&T’s hosting and application services business. Earlier in his career he was a partner with Booz, Allen & Hamilton, an international management and technology consulting firm, and also was executive vice president, strategy and reinsurance operations at insurer USF&G Corporation.
Mr. Stern (pictured) holds a BS in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
