 SunGard Availability Services has recently completed its fourth desktop technology refresh in ten years, deploying 7,400 new PCs across its UK recovery centres. This latest investment in SunGard’s Workplace Recovery services ‘demonstrates SunGard’s ongoing commitment to providing its customers the best possible alternative workplace solution following disruption to their normal office environments’.
The PC refresh, which encompasses new quad core PCs that manage virtualised desktop images, will also help SunGard decrease its desktop energy consumption by up to 45 percent at idle as the power supplies on the new machines are more power efficient than standard industry units. This reinforces the industrial-strength infrastructure on which SunGard can offer new services and support the latest technologies.
