Progress Software launches new IT continuity service

The Progress Company, an operating unit of Progress Software Corporation, has announced the launch of a new IT continuity service, integrating the Progress Fathom product line with NaviSite's A-Services managed application hosting. NaviSite is using Fathom technology to offer Progress partners and their customers automated, guaranteed, real-time failover and data recovery. The result is a line of advanced managed hosting and application services, to provide a hot-stand-by service with near real-time data recovery for Progress-based applications.

Specifically tuned for mid-sized companies, ‘Business Continuity: Progress Edition’ allows Progress Application Partners to provide a set of tiered services aimed at post-disaster data and operations recovery to create disaster-resistant business applications based on the OpenEdge platform. It includes three levels of services so that enterprises can select the availability level that best meets their needs. These are remote data backup, warm standby, and hot standby. Business Continuity: Progress Edition enables Progress users to host their back-up data server in one of 15 data centres where NaviSite monitors and manages all of the underlying infrastructure (including connectivity and servers), ensuring that the backup data is available for restoration.
