The UK government has published a consultation document which seeks to gain comments about a strategy to improve the resilience of national critical infrastructure.
Entitled ‘Strategic Framework and Policy Statement on Improving the Resilience of Critical Infrastructure to Disruption from Natural Hazards’ the strategy is a further response to the Pitt report, which identified a gap in the government’s policy-making and delivery towards the protection of critical infrastructure from severe disruption caused by natural hazards. Pitt recommended that the government should “establish a systematic, coordinated, cross-sector campaign to reduce the disruption caused by natural events to critical infrastructure and essential services”.
The strategy document is being circulated for discussion with government, regulators, industry groups, infrastructure owners and operators, and other interested parties. The closing date for responses is noon on Monday 18 January 2010.
