Emergency Communications and Continuity Planning through your Blackberry® Smartphones

Get free weekly news by e-mailTenet has released a new version of its PINpoint emergency communications and continuity planning tool for BlackBerry. PINpoint version 2.5 introduces a new feature that greatly enhances its value: the ability to ‘push’ documents to BlackBerry devices, in addition to the traditional contact lists.

PINpoint is a corporate application that facilitates cooperation and coordination, by ensuring that BlackBerry users always have up-to-date information stored on their handhelds, including critical documents and contact lists. Use of Blackberry’s with PINpoint means that important messages can still be sent and received when the network infrastructure is lost or down or in the event of a crisis or power failure.

With PINpoint version 2.5, following a defined schedule, PINpoint automatically collects the most up-to-date documents and contact information from internal systems, and pushes them to designated BlackBerry devices. Pushed information is automatically stored in the BlackBerry’s cache memory, thus ensuring that it will be available when users need it, even if systems are down or unreachable.

PINpoint also provides additional, BES-specific information not normally found in the BlackBerry address book, as well as information collected from the corporate directory (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory or Novell eDirectory), such as department, city, job title, etc.

PINpoint is a very suitable for any vertical market including government, healthcare, legal, law enforcement, education and corporate environments. Business continuity managers can now have complete and up-to-date plan documents, emergency procedures and contact information available for use during any crisis situation where normal email or communication systems are unavailable.
