According to the Business Continuity Institute, it is working with Buckinghamshire New University to develop a distance learning Diploma in business continuity management.

The new course will be offered in three modules:

- Module one will focus on the theory of business continuity management
- Module two examines how to influence change and culture within organisations
- Module three enables the student to complete a work based project assignment adding real practical value to their academic study.

Taught by a combination of Business continuity specialists and management skills academic staff, the course is planned for launch in 2010 and offers the equivalent of Level 6 in the Common Academic Framework.
