Altiris, Inc. has launched Recovery Solution
5.7. This provides open and locked file support, extending Recovery
Solution's reach to server backup for operational state protection
in addition to PC backup and recovery. Additional new functionality
includes optional backup to a protected area on the PC's local hard
drive and additional efficiencies for the mobile and remote user.
Recovery Solution protects an organisation's
desktops, notebooks and servers with scheduled backups, providing
lost data recovery or system rollback to a known good state. New
backup support for open and locked files now allows organisations
to protect the operational state of servers using the same solution
adopted for desktops and notebooks, providing a unified backup and
recovery strategy throughout an organisation.
"Increasing threats to PC data and server
operations compelled us to find a single backup and recovery solution
for both," said Stephen Tangalin, Kauai Island Utility Cooperative
IT network specialist. "We already utilise integrated Altiris
IT lifecycle management solutions for centralised PC and IT asset
management. Adding patented Altiris backup and recovery capabilities
to our environment will allow us to maintain a unified solution
to help us further reduce IT management costs."
Automated protection from Recovery Solution
runs in the background to ensure data is continually protected.
In addition, Altiris' patented technology minimises bandwidth usage
and time needed for incremental backups by storing common files
once across an entire organisation and efficiently storing and managing
deltas since the last backup.
