Double-Take Software has announced the availability of Double-Take for Linux version 4.5 which enables customers to easily protect the availability of Linux-based IT workloads without requiring specialized or proprietary hardware and storage-based availability solutions. This new version of Double-Take for Linux offers extended distribution support for Novell SUSELinux Enterprise Server 10 and CentOS 4 and 5. It also adds disk block-level replication to its current file byte-level capabilities, making Double-Take for Linux the only software-based product to provide both byte-level and block-level replication.
The new version of Double-Take for Linux allows customers to protect data residing on additional file systems and within applications like Oracle which leverage raw disk modes. Double-Take for Linux also provides users with support for ReiserFS, an additional option for protection of block-based data, and support for and the ability to run Xen para-virtualized kernels. Double-Take Software will add support for the recently released Novell SLES 11 in its next Double-Take for Linux service pack.
“Double-Take Software aims to support our customers independent of their vendor relationships, and we’re pleased to broaden our reach to Novell SLES 10 and CentOS 4 and 5,” said Bob Roudebush, director of solutions engineering at Double-Take Software. “This new version also strengthens Double-Take Software’s position within the market by offering two types of data replication and providing customers disaster recovery solutions that are flexible and easy to use.”
