SunGard Availability Services completes a refresh of recovery facility desktop PCs in North America

Get free weekly news by e-mailSunGard Availability Services has announced that it has completed a refresh of the desktop PCs in its North America recovery facilities. The refresh, completed in late 2008, deployed more than 5,900 new Hewlett-Packard PCs across 29 SunGard workforce continuity services facilities and 41 mobile recovery units. This was the company’s largest upgrade to date.

The new capabilities provide increased processor speeds and memory as well as the ability to support the wide array of software applications utilized by customers in their businesses.

By deploying a consistent configuration for desktop PC architecture across all workforce continuity services facilities, customers can give their employees a common platform to utilize during an event or outage – even when supporting geographically dispersed business users from multiple SunGard locations.

Additionally, SunGard offers a drive imaging service to simplify and reduce desktop PC recovery times, helping customers to quickly restore large numbers of desktop PCs for their users.

The enhancements also included a complete refresh of the Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) and Voicemail systems, resulting in a uniform software version deployed across all SunGard locations.
