BCI Partnership publishes 2009 campaigning activities update

Get free weekly news by e-mailThe BCI Partnership, an arm of the Business Continuity Institute, has outlined its plans for 2009 to raise awareness of business continuity management. These include:

* A major campaign is being launched to engage with the HR profession via the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s People Management magazine to push for greater involvement of HR in business continuity management and to gain support in promoting the benefits of BCM in organizations which do not currently follow best practice. The results of an initial survey to the CIPDs 133,000 members will be announced during Business Continuity Awareness Week (23rd-27th March 2009).

* The BCI Partnership is working with the UK Civil Contingencies Secretariat, which has recently joined the Partnership, to develop a campaign targeting UK local government. Part of the campaign will emphasise the economic development and reputational benefits that local authorities could gain through proactively engaging with local businesses and will encourage chief executives to fund BCM awareness and development from these adjacent budgets rather than just emergency planning or risk management funds. The first event in this campaign is at the Local Government Association conference on 3rd and 4th February in Leeds.

* On the public affairs side of campaigning, UK BCI Partnership representatives met with an MP on the Commons Select Committee, Business Enterprise & Regulatory Reform to discuss how the BCI might engage on the Sub National Review(SNR), as this may well include local economic resiliency issues.
