defra, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, has published a new document entitled ‘The Government’s Response to Sir Michael Pitt’s Review of the Summer 2007 Floods’.
According to defra the document ‘sets out a clear action plan to deliver against the challenging agenda identified by Sir Michael’.
The report states that: ‘The government supports changes in response to all of the recommendations in the Review. The government is taking steps in response to these and has already taken action on a number of the recommendations. Investment required for longer term implementation will be considered as part of the next comprehensive spending review and any net new burdens for local authorities will be fully funded.’
