Business Continuity Institute publishes 2009 workshops programme
For the past year the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) has been running a series of professional workshops exploring different areas of business continuity. It has now published its 2009 workshops programme:
Crisis Management
Week commencing 19th January
Birmingham
Currently being developed in collaboration with the Crisis Management Advisory Panel. Past topics have included: liaison with the emergency services; evacuation planning; managing the media, and selecting and training the crisis team.
ICT Resilience
17th March
GreenPark, Reading
Will be developed with the assistance of the ICT Advisory Panel. ICT continuity and IT-DR still represent a significant part of the overall BCM function; and IT and (tele)-communications failures continue as major causes of disrupted operations.
Public Sector BCM
Week commencing 20th April
TBC
Following the successful 2008 Summer School we shall be asking Members employed in the public sector to identify key topics for the 2009 Workshop. Also watch out for details of the BCI Public Sector Special Interest Group.
Supply Chain Resilience
Week commencing 11th May
London
Currently being developed as part of a BCI project to better understand the issues associated with ensuring continuity and resilience in working with third-party product and service providers. Attendance may be by invitation only.
Strategic Planning for BCM Leaders
Week commencing 15th June
TBC
The more experienced “BCM Leaders” will benefit from the opportunity that this Workshop provides to explore a range of forward-looking topics, such as “organisational resilience” and the impacts of the current global economic challenges. Delegates will be expected to contribute directly to the programme
Test & Exercise Masterclass
Week commencing 13th July
Leeds
Delegates will be taken on a journey through the development and delivery of a number of exercises. The motivation for this Masterclass is based upon the feedback from the highly successful Workshop held in July 2008
Human Aspects of BCM
Week
commencing 7th September or 15th September
TBC
One of the most challenging issues for the BCM professional is to take full account of the needs of people – a far larger community than employees alone – and to understand the full implications of “duty of care” in delivering an effective BCM programme. A Workshop for HR professionals as well as the BCM team.
Finance Sector
Week commencing 30th November
London
As in 2008, the Workshop programme will be developed with the assistance of the Finance Sector Advisory Panel. By December 2009, there will, no doubt, be much to discuss in terms of lessons identified throughout a very challenging year.
