 ‘Mutual Aid - A Short guide for local authorities’ is a draft short guide produced jointly by the UK Civil Contingencies Secretariat, the Local Government Association, and the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives. It seeks to state the case for the benefits of mutual aid in a disaster situation and to encourage action by offering advice on a range of practical considerations and through good practice examples.
Local authorities have until 25th September 2008 to make suggestions on how the guide may be improved before it is published in its final form in November.
