FEMA makes $27.2 million available for preparedness training initiatives

Get free weekly news by e-mailFEMA has announced that it is making $27.2 million available to state, local, tribal and territorial governments; national associations, non-profits, higher education institutions and the private sector as part of the fiscal year 2008 Competitive Training Grant Program (CTGP). This program awards funds to competitively selected applicants to develop and deliver innovative training programs addressing high priority national homeland security training needs.

In FY08, the emphasis is on the development and delivery of courses in any of the following five focus areas:

• Intelligence/information sharing and dissemination
• Critical infrastructure protection
• Regional collaboration
• Citizen preparedness and participation
• Citizen evacuation and/or shelter-in-place.

Eligible entities may apply for funding through the www.grants.gov portal. Applications can be received no later than 8:00 p.m. EST June 9, 2008.
