The Information technology Authority of Oman (ITA) has signed a contract with Mideast Data Systems for the construction and development of a new disaster recovery facility for the Oman government.

According to http://www.ameinfo.com the facility will provide a multi-tenant Tier 4 level data centre for government IT departments to host backup systems and to provide general business continuity services for government IT services.

The disaster recovery facility will also house various ITA led eOman initiatives, including Ubar Portal, Security Infrastructure, E-Payment Gateway and Public Key Infrastructure.
