During the latter part of 2007, members of the Business Continuity Institute responded to a survey inviting feedback on the challenges faced by those responsible for providing effective and robust IT, data and telecommunications services to their employers. The key issue that came out of the survey – that of aligning the continuity and recovery objectives adopted by the ICT professionals with the wider business continuity goals of the organisation - will be discussed in depth at the BCI’s ICT Resilience Workshop on 21st February in Manchester with the aim of developing some new insights into the delivery of fully effective corporate business continuity management.

The workshop programme will include case studies, discussion exercises and the opportunity to exchange ideas and experience amongst the fifty business continuity professionals expected to attend.

Amongst the specific topics to be discussed will be:

* An exploration of the causes and effects of failing to take an organisation-wide view of BCM planning.

* Standards and guidelines for ICT continuity; and an overview of the work being undertaken to develop a standard that will address the specific needs for continuity of IT services.

* Establishing ICT and BCM priorities: whose role is it; and where does responsibility lie?

* Why ICT continuity planning is difficult - managing the challenge of rapid technology change.
