House passes Terrorism Risk Insurance Act extension

Get free weekly news by e-mailThe US House of Representatives has voted to extend the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) for a further seven years. The 360-53 vote approved a version of the Bill which had previously been approved by the Senate. This clears the path for signing by President Bush before the December 31st expiry date for the current TRIA legislation.

The renewal will result in the extension of TRIA to cover domestic as well as foreign terrorist attacks, but makes few other changes.
