The Secretary of State for the Environment announced in July 2007 that the Government was to conduct a review into the flooding that occurred in England during June and July 2007. The review is being conducted by
Sir Michael Pitt, chair of the South West Strategic Health Authority and an interim report will be published on Monday 17th December, being available online at http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/thepittreview from 9.00am.
The interim report will explore the causes and consequences of the floods, and the lessons to be learned from them. It will also map out the direction for the remainder of the Review, and act as a consultation document prior to publication of the final document in the summer of 2008.
