Teradata offers new data disaster recovery assessment service

Get free weekly news by e-mailTeradata Corporation has announced the availability of its new data disaster recovery assessment service.

"Disasters don't have to be accompanied by extreme physical destruction," said Randy Lea, vice president of product and services, Teradata Corporation. "Companies today rely on their data warehouse to conduct their daily business, drive revenue, and serve their customers. Not being able to conduct your daily business due to a system outage is indeed a disaster and should be planned for just the same."

It is Teradata's goal to help its customers ask the right questions to be prepared. For example, what would happen to the business if the data warehouse were unavailable for one hour, 12 hours or 24 hours? What are the revenue losses or other costs that would occur? Impact to reputation? Employee morale and productivity? Customer defection? With answers to those questions, Teradata looks at the long-term impact on the business of a system that is down for 48 hours, 72 hours, a week, or a month.

The disaster recovery assessment can be conducted over two weeks by an experienced Teradata disaster recovery team that identifies and prioritizes business critical applications and data, quantifies the relative importance and financial impact of a disaster and develops potential recovery strategies. The results of the disaster recovery assessment are delivered with an executive summary which will offer suggestions for next steps based on analysis of the customer's specific needs. Those options may include enhanced business processes, software, and hardware.
