Get free weekly news by e-mailFrom September 24 through October 12, the US Financial Banking Information Infrastructure Committee (FBIIC) and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC) will be conducting a pandemic ‘flu exercise for the financial services sector in the United States. The exercise is sponsored by the US Department of the Treasury and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

The purpose of the exercise is to test the financial sector’s ability to respond to a pandemic like crisis, such as an influenza pandemic. The exercise targets all financial services organizations across the United States including banks, thrifts, credit unions, securities firms, and insurance companies. 2725 of these organizations have registered for the exercise.

The exercise will simulate one wave of a pandemic-like event and participating financial institutions will conduct the exercise anonymously from their own locations through electronic mail and a secure website.
