FEMA responds to Tropical Storm Humberto impacts

Get free weekly news by e-mailIn the wake of Hurricane Humberto, damage assessments are underway in Texas and FEMA stands ready to aid Texas with immediate response and recovery needs. FEMA liaison officers are currently assisting in the Texas Emergency Operations Center (EOC). As the storm continues its track into Louisiana, FEMA liaison officers are on site in the Louisiana EOC ready to assist.

The FEMA Region VI Regional Response Coordination Center (RRCC) was activated yesterday and is in coordination with the Logistical Response Center in Fort Worth and the Emergency Support Functions (ESFs). Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) Teams are being mobilized to assist the state. FEMA Region IV is in preparations to assist states as Humberto tracks east. A pre-designated federal coordinating officer is in Mississippi monitoring the storm and PDA teams are on standby to assist with damage assessments.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is deploying three loss verifiers to Houston to begin preliminary damage assessments in Jefferson, Orange and Galveston counties in response to the damage caused by Humberto. FEMA is in coordination with other federal agencies that are monitoring the storm and are on standby ready to assist, if needed.
