Elizabeth Beaver, senior manager, business recovery, CIBC Mellon, was presented with the Canadian Award for Business Continuity Management at the closing luncheon of the 17th World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM), in Toronto.
The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in, or contribution to business continuity management (or continuity of operations planning). The winner of the award receives a special plaque and their name is engraved on an Awards Board. Also, the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness (CCEP) makes a donation of $1,000 on behalf of the winner to the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Relief Funds.
"Elizabeth Beaver is a dedicated professional with more than 18 years of experience in the field of crisis management and business and disaster recovery. Her work in overseeing crisis management and business recovery planning programs for more than 80 business functions at CIBC Mellon across Canada is an extraordinary feat and we are proud that she has been recognized for her accomplishments," said Thomas C. MacMillan, president and chief executive officer, CIBC Mellon.
Elizabeth received her certification from the Disaster Recovery Institute
(DRII) in 1993 and is an elected member of the certification board of DRI
Canada. An active member of the Disaster Recovery Information Exchange (DRIE) - Toronto chapter since 1990, Elizabeth was the Toronto chapter president from 2001 to 2006. In 2004, Elizabeth received her Fellow designation from the Business Continuity Institute.
