Pyxis Mobile, a provider of mobile applications for the financial services industry, recently announced the results of a survey it conducted of its Customer Advisory Board on business continuity practices and perceptions.
The study revealed that business continuity planners had an ‘overwhelming preference’ for mobile devices over laptop computers and highlighted numerous levels of dependence on mobile computing in business continuity plans.
Seventy-two percent of respondents indicated that handheld devices are useful for business continuity because they provide the ‘core data’ professionals need, while another 54 percent cited mobile devices' battery life as a primary advantage over laptops.
"Our customers demand mobile solutions that easily integrate into business continuity plans for both crisis and non-crisis events," said Shane Hughes, CEO of Pyxis Mobile. "The preference for handheld devices to laptops for business continuity planning is clear. Handhelds are more mobile and have longer battery life than laptops without sacrificing accessibility to core data."
