Phoenix to develop new recovery centre in Farnborough

Get free weekly news by e-mailPhoenix IT Group plc has announced the acquisition of a lease on a facility that will become the group's largest Business Continuity Centre. The 100,000 sq ft recovery centre will be strategically located to the south west of London in Farnborough, Hampshire, and will provide up to 1,450 office and dealing room recovery positions, to be made available on a dedicated or syndicated basis. The centre is expected to become operational later in the summer.

Phoenix already has one firm contract for the new facility, with a major City-based financial organisation signing a seven-year £8.4m deal.

With the addition of the new Farnborough facility and recovery centres gained in the acquisition of ICM, Phoenix can now provide over 7,000 work-area recovery seats for the inner/outer London market.

Commenting on the announcement, Nick Robinson, chief executive of Phoenix IT Group, said: “As a Group we continue to look for growth opportunities and the acquisition of the Farnborough centre will expand our business continuity seat capacity and provide added capacity for existing and future customers. This addition leaves us with a very strong portfolio of business continuity centres and good coverage in the important south east region. I am also delighted to announce that we have secured our first client for this centre. The contract is the Group's largest business continuity win and marks another success for our business continuity division, building on the major landmark contract win announced last year.”
